Right to information today is the most potent rights in the hands of the citizen. It informs, educates and empowers. Every stakeholder in governance and administration has the right to be informed about the steps being taken by the government related to his welfare and well-being. Knowledge is empowerment. It has a transformational role to play in the lives of common people and ensures for them a guaranteed standard of living and livelihood. Awareness of the happenings around our lives adds perspective, direction and meaning to our daily existence.
The inspiration behind the ambitious endeavour in creating a website for the sub-division stems from these very factors. The website offers a sneak peek on the history, geography, flora and fauna of the sub-division. It affords glimpses on the lifestyle of the people, places of tourist interest as well as socio-political and cultural setup. PDS –related information that we are showcasing through this site is the most significant as it puts all the information we have in the public domain for the benefit of the AAY and BPL beneficiaries. This information so shared truly aims to empower the people who are the end beneficiaries of the ambitious Public Distribution System. In the triumph of welfare schemes, we triumph ; in their failure we fail miserably -personally and officially .
It also seeks to document and record for posterity the good work done by the staff of the sub-division in various capacities in spite of many constraints. I have found the people of Dadenggiri friendly and simple. If there was ever a diverse a mix of people of different cultures, languages and lifestyles - it was this land of the abundant plains and the gently sloping hills, the gurgling rivulets and the silent lush green forests and the meandering streams. Nature has been at its glorious and munificent best. A heterogeneous mix of different communities who have learnt to co-exist in peace and harmony only enhances the beauty of the place.
I hope the website achieves its motives so solemnly expounded. The office of SDO(Civil) Dadenggiri believes in ‘kaizen’ the Japanese slogan of continuous learning, continuous improvement. Towards this goal we shall forever strive.
We are extremely grateful to Dr Milton Sangma, Ex-Pro Vice Chancellor, North Eastern Hill University and thank him profusely for his encouragement, material support and enthusiasm that belies his age. This website owes its existence to this extraordinary scholar and is dedicated to him.
