Information is empowerment and dissemination of information a tool to empower the community about its rights and privileges. In today’s era of Good Governance, when the government and administration tries to reach out to the masses, delivering essential services at its doorstep, it is of sacrosanct importance that information is shared with the stake holders of development. This information would serve as a means by which the community is enlightened and they demand the services rather than being passive recipients of the same.

However, this is fraught with challenges and debilitating constraints.

The district and sub-divisional administrative machinery in West Garo Hills is geared up to meet the challenges of governance that a mixed, heterogeneous population, under-development, poverty and unemployment throw up. Government schemes, projects, the administrative set-up itself pose as a self-sufficient mechanism to address and alleviate poverty and misery of the people. The first step however is sharing of the information space.

In this regard, I am pleased that the sub-divisional administration in Dadenggiri (Civil) Sub-division has made rapid strides that culminate in the development of its very own website http://dadenggiri.gov.in. The website disseminates information on the sub-division, the sub-divisional set up, information on the other offices that are there in the sub-division, the history, culture, flora and fauna, as also, the places of interest in Dadenggiri. The information on the medical infrastructure, Public Distribution System and contact numbers of staff of the office of Dadenggiri (Civil) Sub-division and other offices located in the sub-division will surely assist the public in getting services out of them in time, thereby addressing their problems.

Knowing about the culture, socio-economic lives of the people inhabiting the sub-division, their glorious past, their social customs, traditions and beliefs is the only key to a better understanding of the place.
